Dr. M.P. Ravindra is the Senior Vice President and Head E&R, Infosys for the past 5 years.

He has been in the field of IT since 1977 and he has played varied roles and has contributed to the growth of IT in India.

For the last 5 years he has spearheaded the Education and Research function of Infosys Technologies Limited. In this role he has created a record of sorts in creating the engine that has helped Infosys to transform engineering graduates with excellent learnability to become good software professionals. So far about 42000 have graduated through this 4 month intensive training. This program has been featured in the 20th March 2006 issue of Fortune. It has also won global accolades the highest honor being the ASTD Excellence in Practice award in 203. The program has been assessed to be at the ABET 2004 standards for a BS degree Computer Science in any accredited university in USA. KM Research and other education related activities of Infosys reports to him.

He has been instrumental in defining a competency model and provide for the learning mechanism to enable people for providing them with technology capabilities while playing their roles. Work is underway to put the infrastructures in place for implementing and carrying it forward.

He has traveled widely in different capacities including a short stint on an UN Assignment while in NIC.

Currently he is the Champion for the Campus Connect initiative of Infosys that aims to backward integrate the IP in education developed by Infosys over the last 15 years the Processes and pedagogy developed and perfected by Infosys into the engineering programs in the colleges and under graduate education in the country. It has received very good traction in the country.

Dr. Ravindra has a PhD from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore (1974) in Theoretical Physics. He was in full time research from 1968 till 1977. In 1977 he moved from there to take up IT full time. He was elected a Fellow of Infosys in 2002. He is a member of the Infosys Management Council and many other policy committees of the company. He is married to Smt.Kshama who is the COO of the house hold and has a daughter Tejaswini who lives in San Diego with her husband Niket and works for Fair Issac.
