Wg Cdr (Retd) A.E. Patrawalla was commissioned in 1967 in the Flying Branch of the IAF having flown 13 different types of aircraft and has 6000 flying hours. A graduate of National Defence Academy, Defence Service Staff College, Flying Instructor School, Air Force Technical College, Air Force Administrative College and Certified Lead Assessor for ISO 9000. He has worked in flying, technical and logistics branches of IAF. He has presented and published various papers in different forums connected with Aeronautical Engineering, Management and Flight Safety.
In 1989, the officer came on deputation to HAL followed by absorption. In HAL, he has held varied assignments in Customer Services, Production, Planning, Flight Operations & Safety and is presently holding charge of General Manager (Overhaul Division). A Fellow of AeSI he was awarded “Dr. V.M. Ghatage Award” in 1995, for his outstanding contribution in the field of aeronautics. He has designed, developed modification on aircraft accessories and engines which have been patented. He is the past Member of Bangalore International Airport Steering Committee and Council Member of Aeronautical Research & Development Board. He has been commended several times by Chief of Air Staff, Chief of Naval Air Operations and other customers for his yeoman service to IAF, IN and other operators in and out of uniform.
A keen sailor, he has represented India in South East Asian Sailing Regatta. At present, he is the Chairman of Aeronautical Society of India and President of Bangalore Management Association. He is active in the field of aeronautics, management and social service.
