He is Senior Vice President, Real Time Leadership Center and Head of Innovation business at Satyam Computer Services Ltd which is responsible for the Innovation strategy, frameworks and creation of Innovation Ecosystem. His portfolio includes a suite of business processes for Innovation and Business Leadership at Satyam including innovation management, business validation, and business governance.

Joining Satyam in 2006, Venky launched the Innovation Enablers business, resulting in the identification of more than 50 Intellectual Property artifacts in its first year. In 2007, Satyam established the iDNA, a specialized program to build innovation culture across the company using innovative paradigms.

Other initiatives include the Idea Junction and Ideation processes which provide Satyam Ecosystem to engage and lead in the broader innovative practices. About 600 new ideas are generated and processed through the innovation processes and structures every month across the company with respect to value creation across multiple spheres – Business Model, Technology/Service Offering and Process Innovations. Innovation team is also responsible for the collection and proliferation of best practices across the company.

Prior to joining Satyam, Venky worked for a decade at Cisco Systems Inc. conceptualizing and leading implementation of multiple e-business solutions in Silicon Valley. During this period, Venky worked with Information Technology, Marketing, Sales and Business Development groups on a global basis. Venky moved to India as the head of Cisco’s IT Global Development Center to provide leadership during its inception in 2004. Venky was also the member of IT Offshore Steering Council, Business Operations Leadership Team and Strategic Web Architecture Teams at Cisco. Prior to joining Cisco, Venky had similar leadership roles at Silicon Graphics, Landis & Gyr, BRI and CMC. Venky is an alumnus of Indian Institute of Technology.
