Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics (IISc.) 1974;
He has been in IT industry since 1977. Currently he is
Advisor - Education and Research for Infosys Technologies
Limited. He has held senior management positions in Government
and Private sector across wide range of responsibilities
in the IT industry. He led the Infosys charge in scaling
their education program from a few thousands to a capacity
for training over 40000 engineering and science graduates
into IT industry. He was a key lead for the team that defined
and created a solid certification framework and guiding
the creation and delivery of the multifarious programs for
ongoing competence development of Infoscions. The innovative
and one of the most successful Industry- Institution programs
named Campus Connect was conceptualized by him. This program
has caught the imagination of countries in Americas including
USA and APAC apart from close 500 Indian engineering colleges
in tier 2 and 3 towns. Perceptible changes have been experienced
in the rate of employment for graduates from these colleges.
Learning outcome based measurements done so far are very
encouraging. He has worked as or holds the following roles:
- The Joint Chairman of the All India Board of IT of AICTE
under Chairmanship of Prof. D. Acharya
- Member of Task force of the NKC
- Advisor to ISTE
- Founding Member of the Executive Council of IUCEE
- Member of the Advisory Board of MIT for DOEACC and several
such committees of the Government and Autonomous bodies
looking into excellence in engineering education.
- He was the SVP and Head of E & R of Infosys as also
Chairman of the Education Governance Council of Infosys.
Recently elected as Chairman of the CII Task force on higher
education policy which should help CII to influence the
governing bodies to create a freer and healthier environment
for world class higher education and help India cease the
opportunity given us due to demographic dividend.
He has several publications to his credit in his parent
field as also in the field of IT and education. He has won
several recognitions throughout his education and later.
He was elected Infosys Fellow in 2002. Earlier in his research
career he won fellowships of CSIR, India and IISc post doctoral
research fellowship.
