Mr. Murlidhar Rao was born at Nagpur Maharashtra State India. He completed Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering from Regional Engineering College Bhopal. He joined Karnataka Power Corporation as Assistant Engineer in 1973 and worked in various Power Projects. He has worked in construction of units no.9 and 10 of capacity 89.1 MW each at Sharavathi generating station, two generating units of capacity 27.5 MW at Linganamakki dam power house. He was also involved in construction of Kadra and Kodasalli power houses from the beginning till the commissioning of all the 6 units. He was in-charge of Kalinadi project as Chief Engineer from the year 2002 to 2005. During this period 135 MW generating units were uprated to 150 MW. He has worked for about 33 years in construction, uprating, operation and maintenance of powerhouse.

Mr Murlidhar has published about 12 technical papers and presented in seminars on various subjects like construction management, design, uprating etc. He has contributed many articles in technical magazines. Recently, he has attended an International Seminar at Bangkok on Hydro-2006 and presented a technical paper on ‘Positive impact of hydro projects on social, economical and environmental aspects’, which was very well received by the delegates and appreciated by World Bank officials.

He has also published various articles and papers o social and spiritual subjects. He has also published a book on simplified spirituality and released a CD on introduction of meditation. He has also hosted a web site for providing online relaxation and conducted many workshops on stress management and meditation.

In the year 2006, he was promoted and posted as Executive Director (Thermal) at Raichur Thermal Power Station of 1470 MW with 7 units of 210 MW each. Raichur Thermal Power Station has attained record generation of 11484 MU at 90% PLF during the period.

At present, he is working as Technical Director of Karnataka Power Corporation Ltd., at Bangalore and associated with erection of 500 MW Unit at Bellary Thermal Power Station, 250 MW Unit at Raichur Thermal Power Station and 115 MW Unit at Varahi Underground Power House.
